Marcus Abar was the son of Will Reeves - also known as the first superhero Hooded Justice - as well as the father of Angela Abar.
History
Childhood
Marcus Abar was born the only son of two survivors of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre. His father was Will Reeves, a police officer, and his mother was June Abar.
While the family lived in New York City as Marcus was a boy, Will was the victim of a hate crime performed by his fellow officers due to the color of his skin and his investigation into the white supremacist group known as Cyclops. Though the racists let Will go with a warning, Marcus' father used the bag and noose they put on him to stop a crime in progress, becoming the world's first superhero Hooded Justice. Will, in order to protect himself and his family from racists who would judge him for being a Black hero, used makeup on the eyeholes in his mask to pretend to be white.
Will's career as a hero skyrocketed, and Marcus looked up to his father for his vigilantism. However, the toll of Will's second life was heavy on their family, as, one night, Will returned home to find his son emulating his Caucasian eye makeup on himself, wanting to be a vigilante like his father. Will panicked and began forcefully removing the makeup from Marcus' face. When June discovered what was happening, she took young Marcus and left her husband. The mother and son moved to Tulsa, where Marcus finished his childhood.
Adulthood
June raised Marcus alone until he was adult. When he old enough, Marcus told his mother that he wanted to become a soldier and serve in the Vietnam War. June didn't approve and told him, if he did, she would never speak to him again. When he enlisted, she kept her promise.
Years later, after Dr. Manhattan had won the war for the United States and made Vietnam the 51st state, Marcus married a woman named Elise, and together they had a daughter named Angela. They continued to live in Saigon.
When Angela was a child, Marcus and Elise were killed in a suicide-bombing performed by a Vietnamese nationalist who resented the United States' colonization. Angela, having been far enough away from the blast, survived but was now orphaned.
