Marilyn Moonlight was a Wild West hero known as the Spirit of Metropolis. In the present day she returned as a ghostly avenger on the streets of Metropolis.
History
In the 19th Century, when Metropolis was just a small frontier town, Marilyn was a waitress in Bibbo's Saloon. One day an outlaw named Terra-Man came to town and terrorised Metropolis with advanced futuristic weapons. He was eventually defeated by two mysterious strangers: a man who could fly and a black woman on a glowing horse. Marilyn was inspired by the woman, unaware that she was in fact herself from the future, and became a vigilante called the "Spirit of Metropolis". After many adventures she decided to retire, and died peacefully of old age surrounded by her loved ones.
In the 21st Century, Marilyn was resurrected by science as a ghost with light-based powers.[1]
During Parasite attack on Metropolis, Marilyn appears as Superman was searching for a missing Lois Lane at the Daily Planet, and shoots him with luminous bullets. She gave Superman a warning shot and the hero attempts to grab her, but his hand passes through her arm. She then disappears in a beam of white light, which gives Superman a vision of an Old West town.[2]
