Mark Hamill (b. September 25, 1951) is best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise. He has voiced many animated characters and has made a significant contribution to adaptations of DC Comics properties, most notably as the Joker for the DC Animated Universe (DCAU) and the Arkhamverse.
His first DC Comics related role was on The Flash, where he portrayed The Trickster/James Jesse in two episodes that aired in 1991 entitled "The Trickster" and "Trial of The Trickster". Just prior to the mid-season break for CW's The Flash in 2014 it was announced that Hamill would reprise the role for the new series.[1]
In 1992 he worked on the animated series Batman voicing the character he would become primarily tied to, the Joker. In addition to the Joker, he also voiced Ferris Boyle, Trickster, Solomon Grundy, Jordan Pryce, and other smaller parts for projects set in the DCAU. This included video games such as Batman: Vengeance.
Outside of his DCAU work he also voiced:
- Threshold for the animated film Gen 13
- Tony Zucco for the episode "A Matter of Family" of the animated series The Batman
- the Spectre for the animated series Batman: The Brave and the Bold
- Trickster and Sinestro for the animated film Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League: Attack of the Legion of Doom. Here he took over the role of Sinestro from Troy Baker who had voiced the character for the second Lego Batman video game.
He also reprised the Joker for video games such as DC Universe Online and the first two installments of the "Arkhamverse" franchise. After the success of the second game, Batman: Arkham City, he decided to retire the character.[2] However, with 2015's Batman: Arkham Knight he returned to voicing the character.
