Markx Grimbor, or Grimbor the Chainsman, was an enemy of the Legion of Super-Heroes and a member of the Legion of Super-Villains.
History
Grimbor was simply an expert security consultant until he met the mutant juvenile delinquent Charma, whom he was tasked with devising a prison for. Instead, Charma's naturally produced pheromones enslaved Grimbor's mind and made him endlessly devoted to her, and the two fled together as lovers and partners-in-crime. In their earliest known outing, Grimbor and Charma held several Legionnaires hostage in an attempt to coerce a ransom from R.J. Brande. However, the Legionnaires escaped and arrested Grimbor and Charma.[1]
Charma was killed by other female prisoners while serving her sentence, as a result of her pheromones' odd effects, and this emotionally traumatized Grimbor. Lusting for vengeance on the Legion and the entire United Planets, Grimbor held Earthgov President Kandro Boltax hostage and pressed another confrontation with the Legionnaires, which ended in defeat.[2]
Driven mad by grief, Grimbor surrounded the Earth with an interlacing network of energy-chains, intending to gradually constrict them around the planet and collapse the atmosphere. Grimbor's plan was to destroy all life on Earth, including himself, but he was defeated by a mysterious ally of the Legion named Reflecto, who turned out to be a bizarre merger of Superboy's body and Ultra Boy's mind.[3]
Years later, Grimbor was seen among Superboy-Prime's Legion of Super-Villains, fighting Night Girl and Lightning Lass alongside Ol-Vir, Earth-Man, and Titania.[4] Grimbor was presumably knocked unconscious from the explosion caused by the White Witch's absorption of Mordru's magical powers.[5]
