Maro Ito was a shapeshifting warlock, who used black magic to commit crimes.

In the service of Medusa, he caused urban legends to come to life in Gotham City, starting with The Weeping Woman, then Bloody Mary. He then turned a pedophile named Rush into the Hook and mutated Killer Croc into an even more monstrous version of himself.

Using his shapeshifting ability, he took on the guise of a sister named Sune in order to get close to Batwoman and the DEO. This allowed him to get close enough to MEDUSA leader Falchion to kill him and assume control of the organization.

He was later drowned by the Weeping Woman, who took vengeance on him for having manipulated her into doing evil.[1]
