King Marov of Dherain was a stooge of Steppenwolf.
History
Marov was the scion of a Middle-Eastern hereditary monarchy, one which had survived through two world wars while retaining independence and its medieval mode of government. During his tenure, around the beginning of the 21st Century, Dherain was a small but modern monarchy.
King Marov very unwisely allied his nation with the Apokoliptian conqueror Steppenwolf, to protect Dherain from its neighbors. He then even more unwisely tried to double-cross his Apokoliptian ally, who killed him, and took over his country. Two weeks later, the entire nation of Dherain was either in ruins or on fire.
