The Marquis de Chauvenist, before the French Revolution, was the criminal rival of the Crimson Chrysanthemum.

History

When the revolution came, he changed his name to Citizen Chauvenist because he claimed his previous name was for theater folk. When the Inferior Five traveled back in time, Citizen Chauvenist succeeded in capturing the Crimson Chrysanthemum, however, due to legal issues, Chrysanthemum escaped and captured Chauvenist in turn. Chauvenist later captured the Five, but they too escaped after the guillotine broke when he tried to execute Awkwardman.

• The character is a parody of the Scarlet Pimpernel's adversary Citizen Chauvelin.
