Martha Kent was the adoptive mother of Superman.
History
Martha Kent is the mother to Superman; After her husband Jonathan became infected by the Anti-Life Equation and was converted into one of the Anti-Living he attacked Martha, who was able to knock him into their barn cellar and lock him inside. Once their son returned to collect them Martha informed him of what had happened. After seeing Jonathan for himself Clark took Martha to the Daily Planet where the rest of their family were taking refuge.[1]
