Martha Wayne (née Kane) was the wife of Thomas Wayne and mother of Bruce Wayne.
History
Martha Kane was a prominent Gotham City debutante socialite, heavily involved in charity work. She married Dr. Thomas Wayne and had a son, Bruce.
Following her murder at the hands of a mugger named Joe Chill alongside her husband in Crime Alley, Bruce would be raised by their butler, Alfred Pennyworth, and grow up to become the vigilante super-hero Batman.
Notes
- Martha Wayne was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, first appearing in Detective Comics #33. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Martha Wayne first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Batman (Volume 2) #9 by Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, and Rafael Albuquerque.
