Martha Wayne was the mother of Batman (Bruce Wayne).
History
Martha was a young woman whom Thomas Wayne had met at a party that was hosted by Frankie Falcone. Together Thomas and Martha had partied until the both of them got married and had a child together named Bruce, which at that point Martha wanted Thomas to clean up and be a respectable father to their son. In 1979, Thomas and Martha were both murdered in an alley by Joe Chill, setting in motion the events that would lead to their son to become Batman, although Bruce would later learn that his father survived the murder attempt and had gone into hiding to avenge Martha and keep Bruce safe.
