Synopsis for "Femme Fatale"

A group of lowlifes were apprehended by the police after "Big Doof" tripped an alarm with him the only one to escape. "Big Doof" transformed into Martian Manhunter and visited Karen in the form of John Jones and attempted to re-earn her trust, although she ordered him to leave and was writing an article called "The Truth About J'onn J'onnz."

Martian Manhunter decided to fulfill a favor he had promised to do for Superman and visited a Cadmus facility and was greeted by Mickey Cannon, Colonel Adam Winterbourne, and Guardian. Although Winterbourne was skeptical about the Martian, Cannon showed him the catatonic "D.N.Alien" Dubbilex and asked him to help. While attempting to help Dubbilex, Martian Manhunter discovered that someone or something was siphoning the former's mental energy and proposed building a cage around him that would disrupt the drain of energy, drawing out whoever was responsible.

Martian Manhunter set a telepathic net around Dubbilex and while waiting, a female approached the latter and detected the former hiding before introducing herself as Bette Noir. Before defeating Martian Manhunter, Bette Noir revealed that in addition to being telepathic and telekinetic, she was also pyrokinetic. She disappeared and Martian Manhunter deduced that she was a psionic vampire and that she was still in Cadmus. While looking for Bette Noir, Guardian introduced Martian Manhunter to Monster Alley. Although Winterbourne insisted on flooding a room full of aliens with poison gas to take down Bette Noir, Martian Manhunter insisted on confronting her alone.

Bette Noir offered to take the physical form of a Martian for Martian Manhunter to love and claimed that he would not kill her, although the Martian claimed that he was there to shut her down. Martian Manhunter imprisoned Bette Noir before claiming that mankind meddled with creation and vowing to empty the cages in which Cadmus imprisoned aliens.

Meanwhile, as Karen was finishing her article, "John Jones" entered her office and killed her with heat vision before smoking a cigarette.
