Quote1 I eat only fish! It's true that other Sea Serpents are horrible killers, but I'm not! I was born kind-hearted! I couldn't harm anyone to save my soul! You see, that's how I'm able to talk your language, because I saved some ship-wrecked sailors once, and took them to an island! In gratitude, they taught me your language! Quote2

Synopsis for Mary Marvel: "Mary Marvel and the Talking Sea Serpent"

Mary Batson is out painting with some art students at the seaside and one mentions that fishing boats around having reported seeing a sea serpent, which Mary insists definitely aren’t real. They soon find a ship has come in and wrecked and the girls find there’s no crew aboard! Suddenly, they also find the Sea Serpent, snorting angrily at them! Mary calls SHAZAM and becomes Mary Marvel. After one punch though, the Sea Serpent surrenders and pleads not to be hit again, revealing that though other sea serpents are sometimes violent, he just eats fish and learned English from kindly shipwrecked sailors. She decides that’s fine enough and she will tell them the Sea Serpent didn’t do it. Unsurprisingly, the Coast Guard are not really interested in not attacking a Sea Serpent, especially when there’s a new wrecked ship and it seems to have a huge hole in it, presumably due to a Sea Serpent. Mary calls SHAZAM to investigate as Mary Marvel goes to the Sea Serpent, who says he knows who’s doing this! Meanwhile, Cap’n Zebb, an evil submarine captain, crashes his sub into ships to sink them so he can steal their priceless valuables and usually just shoot everyone else aboard. Mary Marvel dives into the water to try to find the submarine, but is confused to find it isn’t there. After picking up a shipment of priceless egret feathers, the Sea Serpent seizes the ship for Mary Marvel to see it and throws it out of the water and then punches Cap’n Zebb off it. Mary Marvel returns to thank the Sea Serpent, discovering that he is a she and a mother to a Junior Sea Serpent that she is caring for until he’s old enough to leave the cave. The Sea Serpents decide to retreat farther out to the deep sea, where they usually live. Mary Marvel waves and thinks how no one will believe she met a real Sea Serpent.

However, when someone comes in, Figaro unlocks Jinks the Monkey’s cage. Jinks opens a container of white mice and Mary is forced to set out cheese to attract all the mice. Again, Mary uses both a bone and fish to lure the cats and dogs back into their cages. Jinks and Figaro manage to dodge her and she gets locked in the cage, forcing her to call SHAZAM to become Mary Marvel and breaks free and puts the animals back in their cages. Synopsis for Mary Marvel: "Mary Marvel and the Sinister Tropical Snow!"

Mary Batson and Mrs. Bromfield are at the beach when it suddenly starts snowing?! Everyone bundles up and immediately goes to a fur coat sale to get warm again. Mary decides to call the police before a riot breaks out, but a riot breaks out anyways as she calls SHAZAM. She becomes Mary Marvel and finds that all of the coats are highly overpriced! The man admits that he did this because a man promised to make it snow and he had to sell all these furs at these high prices or he’d kill his daughter, who he kidnapped! Mary Marvel “sends” Mary Batson to meet the Shopkeep near his store and they go to the hand-off point: an old lighthouse. Mary recognizes the kidnapper is her old villain, Dr. Encyclo and she decides to remain quiet until he likely states everything about his plan and how he makes the snow. Dr. Encyclo takes the ransom and returns the Shopkeep’s Daughter, then brags that he uses dry ice he shot into the atmosphere. She tries to call SHAZAM, but he throws a handful of dry ice in her face and then says he also knows her secret identity due to his photographic memory, stating he’s read and memorized every book here is and knows everything! The dry ice forms into a mask that Mary Marvel can’t easily speak through as Dr. Encyclo says he’s been pressing lots of winter equipment stores into sharing profits with him for creating these snowstorms. Mary starts rubbing her hands on her face to melt the dry ice and Dr. Encyclo goes to whip another handful in her face, but the Daughter takes the shot in the face so Mary can call SHAZAM and becomes Mary Marvel. Dr. Encyclo uses a full powered Ice Gun to freeze her in place, but she breaks out pretty easily. Dr. Encyclo tries to shove the Daughter off the lighthouse, forcing Mary Marvel to catch her and scarpers to a speedboat. Mary Marvel finds no trail to follow and the next day, the freak snowstorms stop and she finds that the Shopkeep donated the unnecessary markup to charity and promises she’ll get Dr. Encyclo someday.
