Master Comics #102 is an issue of the series Master Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of April, 1949.
Synopsis for Captain Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. and The Plague of the Locusts!"
Freddy Freeman is peddling papers at his Newsstand when Sivana, Jr. just kidnaps him by blackjacking him while his back is turned and dropping him off a roof while bound and gagged. Freddy manages to twist in mid-air while falling and slip his gag by letting his face very close to a bird-shaped flagpole finial. He quickly calls CAPTAIN MARVEL and becomes Captain Marvel, Jr. to punch out Sivana, Jr. and drag him back to Reform School, saying now he has a headache due to repeated head trauma and decides to go visit his pastoral friend, Farmer Jones, for a quiet country vacation. Days later, he heads out to Farmer Jones’ farm and tells him that Sivana, Jr. is the World’s Wickedest Boy, though Farmer Jones is adamant that no child is truly evil and surely he could fix him with just some hard work. Freddy isn’t so sure, but decides to go do it then, calling CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Junior once more and retrieves Sivana, Jr. with the Reform School Warden’s permission.
After some days, Sivana, Jr. seems to be improving under Farmer Jones’ Special Kindness Treatment and Jones finds him to be agreeable and cooperative. Freddy is alack to believe it, but he can’t argue with the visible results he has before him. Soon after though, the farm is soon attacked by a swarm of locusts and Freddy calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Junior to stop them. Sivana, Jr. offers he just get some agricultural pesticides for this and he does so. However, when he returns… the locusts are gone, almost as if they were never there! A fellow farmer, Ezra, enters and tells Farmer Jones he got an anonymous note saying to bring $5,000 to a hollow tree or the locusts will get his farm, but Jones says nobody can control locusts and to just pretend it was a goof, but later he runs back saying it’s happened and when Freddy calls CAPTAIN MARVEL and Junior gets there, he finds the field is already destroyed and follows the locusts to a deserted mill and entering into a large suction pump machine that also sends them out in a specified direction. Further, these aren’t locusts, but tiny sponges soaked in acid shaped to look like locusts, figuring that Young Thaddeus is almost certainly the culprit. However, when he gets back to the farm, Jones shows him a note saying he has to pay $10,000 or Jones’ Farm will be destroyed by “locusts” and tells Junior that Sivana, Jr. wants to tell him his great plan about how to fix this. His plan is to have Farmer Jones put the money in the three with Freddy Freeman there to watch for it, since no one would expect him to be Captain Marvel, Jr. When they do though, Young Thaddeus just knocks him out with a blackjack, drags him into the old mill and ties him to one of the windmill blades to smash him into a rock. Freddy manages to slip his gag when the windmill crosses a weather vane and calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to fly over and punch out Sivana, Jr. as Junior once again. He says he’s going to bring Farmer Jones’ money back to him once he finishes dropping Sivana, Jr. off at Reform School and promises to break his Locust Machine.
