That was no fish Freddy hooked... it's one of the Booth Brothers! That stone attached to his body proves one thing... He was murdered! I'm going to leave his body here on shore while I visit the tool shop to investigate further! If I'm going to ask questions I'd be less likely to arouse suspicion as Freddy Freeman, so..... CAPTAIN MARVEL!
Master Comics #108 is an issue of the series Master Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of October, 1949.
Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Deathly Humor!"
Mrs. Wagner is furious that Mr. Durston is an annoying prankster and kicks him out of her Boarding House and she now doesn't have time to set the table for lunch and they'll have to eat in the kitchen. Turning on the lights in the kitchen, the stove suddenly just lifts over their heads and nearly crushes Mrs. Wagner. Freddy calls CAPTAIN MARVEL and becomes Captain Marvel, Jr., finding there's an electromagnet on the roof that lifted the stove. Junior decides to go fishing with Durston later while Mrs. Wagner prepares lunch for Freddy. Meanwhile, the Booth Brothers, Al and John, thank him for handing them a bucket of water to mix into their cement at the Tool Shop, but find that it's actually an acid solution that turns into steam, threatening to scald them both. They fire him and go to treat their numerous burns and tell him to pack his stuff and leave. Arrogantly, Durston decides that they don't appreciate his humor and cuts an auxiliary wire to electrocute whoever uses a machine next. However, when Al Booth uses it, he falls over… and stops moving. Durston ties his body to a rock and dumps it in the river and legs it and decides to use a Hindu magic trick to kill John when he returns, which is just hiding around a corner, ringing a bell and then strangling him with a phone cord. Freddy Freeman is fishing where the body was dumped and finds something heavy he's hooked and calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Captain Marvel, Jr. He dredges up Al's body and goes to the Tool Shop to return to being Freddy. He finds John Booth dead on the ground and tries to call the police while Durston tries the Hindu Phone Murder Trick. Durston leaves him to pass out from suffocation before Durston leaves to dump John's body in the river and Freddy catches the wire in a machine and calls CAPTAIN MARVEL once he can breathe again. He punches Durston out and arrests him and later, Mrs. Wagner makes Freddy some pie while he says Durston won't be pulling anymore pranks!
