Synopsis for Capt. Marvel, Jr.: "Capt. Marvel, Jr. Meets the Caveman!"
An ancient caveman has been unfrozen from a glacier and revived with the new miracle drug known as “Virugo.” Thus, he is being brought to New York City and Freddy Freeman is there with some press photographers to see it in person. A big crowd soon forms as its loaded off a train and a bald scientist emerges to say to not get close because he is “savage and wild! His instinct is to destroy!”, that he's not well-adjusted to the modern world and he has the strength of at least seven men. Seeing a woman, the Caveman tears open the bars of his cage and the guards are nowhere near enough to handle him fast enough as Freddy calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Captain Marvel, Jr. He punches the Caveman back into his cage and fixes the bars back in place. The scientist hopes that the Caveman will adjust more soon and apologizes for his brutish behavior. Soon enough, there are charity exhibitions being held to see the Caveman in theatres, which Freddy is upset at, since he still at least believes that the Caveman is human and shouldn't be treated any differently just because he doesn't know what's going on. Despite this, he goes to see the show anyways. The scientist says that, so far, the Caveman now deigns to eat cooked food, sleep on a bed of matted grasses rather than sitting in trees and now doesn't attack every animal around him as a natural and inherent threat!
As soon as he gets on stage though, the Caveman sees the photographer, becomes angry and tries to attack her. Freddy calls CAPTAIN MARVEL when he hears what's going on and becomes Captain Marvel, Jr., finding him carrying the photographer and punches the Caveman in the head. He punches him off the stage and into the orchestra where the Caveman bludgeons him with a chair, but Junior merely punches him back on to the stage. However, the Caveman isn't trying to fight him and instead climbs a stage rope to swing out through a skylight and off the roof. Junior begins looking around, but he's surprisingly gone! This is because the Caveman is hiding out in the City Museum in the Neanderthal Man Room. Junior hears the word from Officer Jim Bellows, who is hanging on the side of a cop car to ride there quickly. Junior topples him from beating a docent with a club, but the Caveman throws it at him and scarpers into a train tunnel, thinking it is a cave: a place of safety. Instead, he runs under a train and Junior finds he couldn't stop him in time. There is a somber funeral for the Caveman and, from his Newsstand, Freddy remarks a eulogy for a man who never could understand this modern age…

Synopsis for Bulletman the Flying Detective: "Bulletman the Flying Detective and the Bear Scare!"
Bentley Kassal, a lawyer, reads the will of late Uncle Jason Preakness, who has left everything to his two nephews. To his good nephew Scott, he gives his stocks, bonds and some personal property. His troublesome nephew, Cabot, is left a trained bear. Some weeks later though, Scott is killed when the bear climbs a tree, leaps on to his balcony and strangles him to death. The next day, Lt. Kent gets the news and tells Jim and Susan that Scott Preakness was strangled by a bear and his cousin just so happens to own a trained bear! Lt. Kent restrains laughter as he wishes the Bullets knew about this information and Jim and Susan openly wink to one another, then change into the Bullets to go interrogate Cabot Preakness. They break into his basement and find the cage is torn open. Bulletgirl almost slips and falls on a rug, discovering a trapdoor and the bear chained to a heavy post, having clearly not left for days. Suddenly, a second bear climbs in the cellar window, removes his head and openly says to nobody there that he killed his cousin Scott for his inheritance and he's going to blame it on the bear that he also hates. Cabot then manages to whip his bear head off at Bulletgirl, then knocks them out by breaking a chair on their backs, leaving Bulletgirl bound to the cage and kicking Bulletman into the bear pit. He drags Bulletgirl to the roof and threatens to throw her off, but the real bear frees Bulletman's bonds and he fires off to save Bulletgirl. She goes to get her Helmet back as Bulletman fire after Cabot and punches his bear head off and says he's no bear, he's a snake. The Bullets soon deliver Cabot to Lt. Kent personally.

Synopsis for Freshman Freddy: "X Marks the Spot"
Prof. Little announces that a thief has been stealing silverware from the Professors' homes over the course of weeks and they want everyone to stay vigilant the best way they know how: offering $100 if anyone catches him. Freddy, Ace and even Stooge find a crowd outside after the lecture and find there's a man selling Wonder Spot Remover! He sprays ink from a fountain pen on Freddy's sweater, but then rubs the Wonder Spot Remover on it, immediately curing it. Freddy is amazed and buys $5 worth of it so he can remove spots for easy cash. Ace tells Stooge that he's going to pull a fast one on Freshman Freddy. Thus, he steals away to the Laboratory and borrows some acid in a vial. Stooge soon tells Freddy that Mrs. Little is having a party and that Freddy will likely find stains to remove there, while Ace poisons the Wonder Spot Remover with the acid. Soon enough, Prof. Little finds rich woman Mrs. Nuvorich has arrived for the party, but Freddy enters suddenly, dumping Prof. Little and a tray of teacups he was holding on to her. She is upset, but Freddy rubs the Wonder Spot Remover on her dress instead, only to find that her red dress is now turning blue and eating holes in it, but when the dress is eaten away… Mrs. Nuvorich is revealed to be a man wearing pants under his dress so he can use the extra pockets to steal silverware! Freddy borrows Prof. Little's tray and smacks the thief in the head, disrupting his rich lady wig. Prof. Little thanks Freddy for his help and is awarded the $100. Stooge notes to Ace that he can't pull a fast one on Freshman Freddy!

Trivia
- Despite the cover, the Caveman only kidnaps a woman in a red dress as far as from her seat to onstage at a theater, but not as far as the roof. Instead, Captain Marvel, Jr. gets her to safety before he gets to the roof.
- In real life, it is very illegal to own a bear as a pet, both in New York City or in the State of New York as a whole, especially since Cabot's also mistreating the animal in his creepy double-basement.
- It is also unclear how Cabot intended to avoid prosecution for not properly keeping an apparently murderous bear under control had he gotten away with it.
- This issue marks a rare early appearance of Freshman Freddy in Master Comics. He will soon return as an infrequent back-up feature starting in Captain Marvel, Jr.# 61
- Freshman Freddy will return as a more frequent back-up feature starting in Master Comics# 115
