Mawu is the creator goddess of the Yoruba pantheon.

History

Together with the rainbow serpent Oshunmare, she created the worlds, among them Ifè, realm of the Orishas and the only living land, using her own life force known as lido. From Ifè, the other Orishas came to be by gaining consciousness within the living land.
