Max Mercury was a superhero speedster, and member of the Flash Family. When his fellow speedster Wally West was possessed by a mysterious entity, he had his powers removed like the rest of the Flash Family. Max worked with the Family to use their Rogue's gadgets against their former friend.

History

Max Mercury was an older member of the Flash Family years in the future. When Wally West became the host of a force called Famine, he attacked the Family and removed the speedsters' access to the Speed Force. Max and the powerless Family spent several years trying to stop Famine without their speed, using their knowledge of the Force and gadgets stolen from villains.

Max participated in the group's raid on Checkmate, in an attempt to steal the Thinking Cap. Max wielded the Weather Wand, shutting off the base's power. However, when Caclulator attacked Impulse, Max was too slow to respond, acting too late to save the young man's life. Max blamed himself for Bart's death, even his meditation not helping him.

He used that mediation in conjunction with the Thinking Cap to help the group cast their psyches into Wally's mind, hoping to communicate with him. The Famine entity managed to attack their psychic forms, however, hurting Max's mind and even killed Jay Garrick.

In a span of two months after Jay's death, Max contracted a fatal disease and his body had to be cremated by Barry and Iris to avoid spreading the infection.
