- My name is Maxine Gibson. I'm Batman's best friend. And only partly because I accidently discovered that, in real life, he's my classmate, Terry McGinnis. Fact is, Terry and I would be best friends even if he wasn't Batman. But he is, so that makes our friendship a little different. Being Batman's best friend means I help him out. No, I don't put on a cape and short shorts, fight crime with him, and say things like "Holy bad puns, Batman!" Please. I'm kind of his eyes and ears, doing what I can with computers to help him get things done. But even then, it's more than that. Being Batman's best friend means keeping secrets...occasionally having to do things way out of you comfort zone... and being ready for all kinds of surprises.

Maxine "Max" Gibson was the friend and confidante of Batman (Terry McGinnis).
History
Max was the smartest girl of Terry McGinnis' class. She figured out his secret identity after a fight with Terminal, the would-be valedictorian Carter Wilson, and his Jokerz. She later assisted Terry on several of his missions as well as deducing that Bruce Wayne was the original Batman and also created a working relationship as him as well as Terry.
Undercloud
Gibson returned home one evening to discover someone was attempting to hack her computer. She was able to track them to a run down cafe, only to find their computer. Over the microphone, the hacker revealed they had surveillance cameras on her and threatened to harm her friends unless she joined their organization, Undercloud.[1] She agreed to participate in their test, where she edited the code of Gotham Credit Union's mainframe, resulting in a four second blip in Gotham power grid.[2]
During the Joker King's attack on Gotham City, Max was kidnapped by Undercloud operatives and met their leader, Rebel One.[3] She revealed that she was a dreg, a person of the lower class, and sought revenge against the upper class, planning to level the city with the help of a robot called Alloy.[4] Rebel One blackmailed Max into hacking into Responsometers, devices that would allow her to control Alloy. While starting up the robot, she drew in too much power, while resulted in a minor blackout in Wayne Manor, allowing Batman to track them. Unfortunately, this was enough for Rebel One to decide to preemptively activate Alloy and send it out into the city.[5]
Max reworked Rebel-One's controller, allowing Batman to unleash an electric blast to separate Alloy into the Metal Men. Batman and the elements initially attempted to stabilize the damaged Reed Tower, but then decided to safely destroy the rest of the tower. Enraged, Rebel-One pushed Max out of her hovercar and aimed to drive into the tower.[6]
