Max Lord (born Maxwell Lorenzano) was the greedy, eccentric, wealthy entrepreneur and collector who acts as C.E.O. of Black Gold Cooperative. He battled Wonder Woman for all the control and power he could possibly gain using the power of the Dreamstone.

Part of Max Lord's collection of crystalline artifacts was put on display in the Smithsonian Institution in 1984, where they were marveled at by curator Barbara Minerva, a woman Lord would later use for his own gain.

Former Powers
  • Unique Physiology: Upon using the Dreamstone to wish that he himself was the Dreamstone, Lord was gifted immense power in granting wishes. He, however, rescinded his powers upon discovering the damage it posed to his son.
    • Reality Alteration: Lord could make anyone's wish come true as long as they were touching each other.
      • Mind Control: Lord could make anything happen with his wishes. Any wish or curse that required people to change gave Lord influence over their actions.
    • Power Absorption: As part of the "monkey's paw" effect of the Dreamstone, as long as Lord granted somebody a wish, he could command a curse on them in return, usually for his own selfish gain.

Former Weaknesses
  • Wish Contact: One limitation of being the Dreamstone was that Lord needed to touch whomever made a wish for it to come true. "Touch" was interpretable though, as he was able to use a series of government satellites to "touch" everyone on the planet at the same time.
  • Power Limitation: As dictated by the rules of the original Dreamstone, Lord could only grant one wish per person.
  • Power Instability: Making wishes caused Lord's health to quickly deteriorate, causing his eyes to fill with blood, his nose to bleed, and his organs to fail.
