She finds the Medallion of Acrata and was bestowed great gifts so that she alone had the strength to bend shadow to her will 
The Medallion of Acrata is an ancient Mayan symbol which represented the shadows in the night, as such, Andrea Rojas was able to teleport once she entered a shadow.[1]

The Medallion of Acrata was used by ancient Mayan priests to travel in the dark. It was unknown how Andrea Rojas came to its possession.[1]
Arrowverse
In 2004, Lena Luthor discloses to Andrea Rojas an anecdote about the Medallion of Acrata, something her mom had been fixated on. Years later, Andrea's father Bernardo Rojas was having trouble at Obsidian North and she enlists Lena to help search the local ruins for the Medallion of Acrata. Andrea falls into a concealed pit and finds it, but she is approached by a member of a secret organization known as Leviathan, who has her take the Medallion so that the organization can use her services.[2]
When the Leviathan member Margot appeared to her, Andrea is told how to activate its abilities as she is sent to kill Governor Harper. Later, Andrea asks Lena's help to invade D.E.O. and free Russell Rogers, in return, Lena asks her to give her the Medallion. Hope translates the words in the Medallion to "Leviathan".[2] Lena tries to use the Medallion but it doesn't work with it, since the powers have already settled in Andrea. Margot and Rama Khan try to get the Medallion back from Lena, but they fail.[3] After the Crisis, the Medallion is again in possession of Andrea.[4]

- Darkness Manipulation: The Medallion allowed Acrata to teleport in the shadows. Because of her inner darkness, she was able to enjoy its mystical properties; thus giving her new powers without the need for the medallion itself.[2]
