Medusa is the Queen of Gorgons, and she could turn people into stone with her eyes.
History
Queen Hippolyta traveled to the Hades with Nubia to wake up the Mother of the Monsters, crossing the River Styx in the boat of Charon.
Hippolyta sent Medusa along with the Amazons Mala, Nubia, Troia and Artemis to the United States in search for Princess Diana, to force her to return to Paradise Island and face the trial for her misdemeanor of protecting US Air Force pilot Steven Trevor, a man who crashed on Paradise Island, and taking him to the Man's World without the permission of the Queen.
During the attack on the Elies Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where Steve was staying and Diana was with him, Medusa transformed the soldiers who watched over the foreign princess into stone, including Lieutenant Trevor, under the command of the Amazons. No alternative, Diana agreed to surrender to her sisters and to go back home, carrying Steve made stone with her.[1]
