Mellu Loran was a lover of the great poet Rac Shade, who journeyed to Earth and experienced the madness of the M-Vest.
History
After Rac Shade disappeared, Mellu Loran devoted her life to finding him.
When one of Shade's fans named Loma, who began to call herself "Loma Shade" in honor of her hero, became tired of Meta and sought to experience Earth as the original Shade had, she stole the M-Vest on display in a Meta museum and traveled to Earth. Mellu Loran, furious, believed this would complicate her mission of finding Shade, and used every method possible to bring Loma back to Meta to pay for her crimes.
Loran was finally successful at securing the M-Vest and, while exploring the madness, was reunited with her love Rac Shade, who was peacefully resting in the cosmic dimension. Shade, having seen the methods Loran used to find him and the change in her since they were lovers, spurned her. Loran was devastated, succumbed to madness, and shriveled into a black dot in the endlessness of this bizarre realm.

- Mellu Loron was created by Michael Fleisher and Steve Ditko, first appearing in Shade, the Changing Man #1. However, in the Prime Earth continuity Mellu Loran first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Shade, the Changing Girl #1 by Cecil Castellucci and Marley Zarcone.
