The Mental Radio was a telepathic transmitter attached to a head-piece by way of a length of cable used for communication. It allows Wonder Woman to connect with others, particularly her fellow Amazons on Paradise Island, using her telepathic abilities channeled through her golden tiara.[1]
History
Earth-Two
Wonder Woman kept a Mental Radio in her apartment where she lived under the alias Diana Prince. She often used it to keep in contact with Col. Steve Trevor, and it became particularly useful for alerting her whenever Steve was in trouble.[citation needed]
Wonder Woman also gave a mental radio to her friend Etta Candy. Etta kept it in her dorm room at Holliday College, where she and her sorority sisters, the Holliday Girls, could use it to keep in touch with Wonder Woman whenever they needed.[1]
Earth-One
The Mental Radio was first designed by the Amazon scientist Paula,[citation needed] but later versions of the radio were developed further by Wonder Woman.[citation needed] By placing the headband upon a user's forehead, one could mentally communicate across vast distances.
Wonder Woman routinely used the Mental Radio to communicate with her fellow Amazons on Paradise Island, even if she was beyond the dimensional breach separating Paradise Island from the rest of the planet Earth.[citation needed]
The technology used in the Mental Radio is similar to that which allows Wonder Woman the ability to mentally summon her invisible Robot Plane,[citation needed] in which the Mental Radio was also installed.[2]
Trivia
- In the Wonder Woman TV series, the Mental Radio was a wireless device embedded in the red star on Diana's tiara.[5]
