Mera is the non-native Queen of the fabled underwater realm, Atlantis. Originally from the Atlantean-offshoot penal colony, Xebel, she is a protector of Atlantis, the oceans, and the world above using her powerful hydrokinetic abilities. She is also notaly the wife of Aquaman and mother to Arthur Curry Jr. before Flashpoint and later Andy Curry. She has been also been a member of the Justice League, the Aquaman Family, and the Red Lantern Corps. She was briefly known as "Aquawoman".
Mera was created by Jack Miller and Nick Cardy, first appearing in Aquaman #11 (1963).
