  • Aargh, I thought I caught that one in time, but forgot it was linked on actor pages as well. If you see any others (omelets and eggs and all) please yell at me on my wall.

    • I got off of my followed list, which has most, if not all of the actors on it. Aside from that, gods know what else the bot rampaged through...

    • I'm going through Teen Titans Go Vol 1 at the moment, and I know I'll hit a few. There was a TTG! variant cover month, and for some reason, some of the images were uploaded with and some without the !. I'll just rename those later. Can't have contingencies for both.

  • I'm just curious. What causes a actor image to replace another or to show up when you look their Actor by Role category? For example, Jeffrey Combs' image replacing David W. Thompson's in the Actors who portrayed Jonathan Crane category and Ryan Potter's image showing up in the Actors who portrayed Garfield Logan when it previously had none?

      Loading editor
    • First off, I've got the categories defaulting to plain lists. So, with the exception of image categories, I don't see images in the categories.

Second, in most case, as I understand it, the "Exhibition" and "Dynamic" preferences update the listing as images are added to a page. When listed as a subcategory, I have no idea how the system picks the image shown.

Last, the system is inconsistent in updating the categories. If the images did not propagate to the category pages right after you uploaded and placed them, it is either that or it took time on your end for your computer to update the page version it had cached.

      Hope this helps.

  • Just a simple question really. What does the valign=top do?

      Loading editor
    • It aligns vertically at the top.

        Loading editor
    • Yup.

I use it in the tables mostly when an actors has been credited with 2 or more roles. It brings the title and date in line with the first role. It makes the table read a little easier.

  • An image that I just uploaded autodeleted itself and it's not allowing me to reupload it. It was for this page.

  • I noticed weird error on air dates on Justice League, and saw several actors entries used the wrong year. I've sent the bot to clean that up.

      Loading editor
    • Turns out 15 pages used an incorrect date.

        Loading editor
    • Most likely they were typoed when they were entered on the series page, most likely by me. That would explain the propagation issue. I had tended to use the series page to clip the episode lines for the actor pages when setting up the tables.

      Thanks for the catch.

  • Sorry, I'm not a native English speaker: What did you mean by "miss IDed publicity shot" in the edit comment? I replaced the image because the face in the former image was blurred due to the light reflections, aren't there better "caps from the show"?

In the meantime, I found the other image here (No. 26). It is not a cap from the show, either, but a behind-the-scene image. Would you think another image on that page might better fit? Maybe No. 16?

    • With regard to File:Justin Hartley Mug 2.jpg, when I pulled the image, it was from a Google search. The result did not have a link-back that identified it as a raw, pre-post-production image. That said, I don't fin the ripple lighting effect is a problem. It is more evocative of Aquaman than a dry head just above the water line.

As for Justin Hartley, I agree. The image you found is more sonsistant with the tone the Staff page should have.

    • So we leave the image in the gallery, and I exchanged the one on the staff page. I hope, the Image template is ok. Thanks for your guidance.

  • Your thoughts on this discussion regarding splitting? I thought I'd pull you in because it requires a lot of redoing on actor pages.

  • Hi, Byfield.

What's up with the Universe field not accepting the DCAU on pages such as Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (Movie)? There is a "Error: String exceeds 1,000 character limit" at the bottom of the page which I assume has to do with it.

Sorry, if you're already aware of it and it's "inoperable".

    • IIUC, there is a fundamental glitch in the Movie template that results in the bold red letter at the bottom of the page. I'm not sure if it can or cannot be fixed, though Hatebunny would know better.

"Universe" seems to be a different problem. All the various universes seem to just create a redlinked "Universe" in the infobox, though the category is added.

And I've got no clue why December 12, 2000 is generating [[Category: {{{<span 12, 2000 (Publication)|Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (Movie)]]. Other days, months, and/or years don't seem to trigger that one.

The last two should definetly be passed by Hatebunny though.

    • Several templates were heavily altered during the switch to mobile done by wikia staff, resulting in multiple errors in almost all the templates. It's been discussed by the other admins, but sadly, there is no way to fix all the coding errors since the switch was done using Lua and there's nobody in the wiki who knows how to work with that.

That said, the string error in bold letters was there prior to the switch.

There were minor issues which were fixed, but some of the major ones (if they can be fixed) still need someone who knows Lua to fix them. So... we're pretty much screwed... for now.

    • I fixed the universe thing. That was a simple error in the template by the Wikia staff member who created the Lua templates.

The date thing... I don't understand. I feel like it's the same issue as the floating div and the 1000 character limit excess - which is that there's something wrong with the template html formatting, and I still don't know what.

What puzzles me most about it is that any other day in December causes a MATH error, whereas the 12th causes a bad output.

  • I came across something browsing. In the race category it is spelled "Tamaranean" but when you specify that in Tamaranean Physiology it is redlinked, unless you change it to "Tamaranian" then the link is accepted Tamaranian Physiology. What is the reason behind this?

I asked Tupka but he wasn't sure so I thought I'd pass it on to you. If their is no solution, should use the non-redlinked Tamaranian version?

  • Hi, What is involved in creating a minor category, the kind you tag at the bottom of an article e.g. Bounty Hunters. Is it just the main page and a redirect?

    Thanks.

    • I was back in the stacks, rummaging for stuff and not finding it. For instance, didn't there used to be a Category around here called "Cults"? What happened to that?

        Loading editor
    • As long as we're talking about categories, some pertinent ones I would like to see are things like "Central City residents" and so on. Lot's of minor characters to fill in as well and not just the usual suspects.
