  • Just a couple of notes regarding your bio of Henry Bendix (The Wild Storm). It may also apply to earlier work.

    • Issues should always be linked with the {{c|}} template; this generates a cleaner link.
    • Ref tags should always come after the period or comma. Not just Wikia, but pretty much all (if not all) academic style guides have this.
    • If you use one source more than once, you must reuse it with <ref name=Series1>. It's not really important what you call the ref, as long as it's easy to understand and consistent on the page.
    • Powers, Weaknesses, Abilities etc. should only be added with Powers Templates - it automatically adds the category.
    • They also should always have a title. For weaknesses, Power Loss, Power Limitation, Mental Illness and Dependency cover a lot of them.

They're all layout and markup issues, no problem with the actual text.

  • Hello!

Thank you for uploading new content to the DC Database project!

We have lots of images in our database, 131,213 in fact, and in order to keep them organized we use a system of naming, categories and licensing added to each.

    1. Please review our Naming Conventions for Images. Images are categorized by name, so a descriptive name rather than a string of numbers is important.
      1. As a guide, look what other images in a character's gallery are called, and continue with the same name and number. If you upload a first image of a character, use "[Name] [Universe] 001". Do not use parentheses, or the full pagename. Ignore the Universe designation if it is a New Earth character.
      2. Issue covers should be given at least the title of the series, the volume and the number. A name similar to the issue is preferred: "Title Vol 1 1". Textless covers should be called "Title Vol 1 1 Textless". Files that do not indicate the issue number will be deleted.
    2. Images should be no less than 300px wide, unless no bigger image is available.
    3. Add the Image Template to the images you upload. This is mandatory. Fill it in as detailed here, or below.
    4. Selecting the proper license is vital to properly maintaining our images. Please choose the license which best describes the image you are uploading. The most commonly used are 'Comic Single Panel' and 'Comic Cover', respectively.
    5. Other fields that should be filled in: Issue, Subject1, Artist. Add Source if you've taken it from a different site. If you've taken it from a different site and don't know the issue, DO NOT UPLOAD IT.

For a more in-depth guide, see Help:Image Template Hub. In addition, please take a moment to review our policies page and more specifically our image policy.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in reply to this post and our admins will explain how you can improve for next time.

  • Do you know where you got the information for Steamroller being part of Our Worlds at War? I tried tracking it down and couldn't find anything.

  • Other than (part of the) name and appearance, was there ever an explicit confirmation that the two are the same? BC Heathcliff seems several years older than GA Heathcliff.

  • Prime Earth pages need a few things.

    • For one, the template needs to be filled out. Not just the history section.
    • It needs links to relevant pages.
    • It should be written in past tense.
    • You should include the {{PEthing}} and {{PEBoilerplate}}, properly filled out.

    These aren't optional.

  • While the History needs expanding to cover Forever Evil, what you did to the top... hurts.

    • Sometimes, most time really, simpler is better. "Thanks to a shooting spree, Jor-Il was able to secure a lifepod for his son, whom he regarded as his best chance of revenge." is better than "Reacting in the chaos, Jor-Il shot a crowd of people to secure a lifepod for his son, whom he regarded as his best chance of revenge." And event that could be cleaned up.
    • "...taught and indoctrinates by... ..., taught that..." is redundant in the worst possible way.
    • The Power Ring claim would need a ref as to where you found it. Though those three sentences aren't really needed.

    • OK. Simpler is better, I admit that.

Also... yeah, Ultraman claims to have a hand in the origin of Power Ring, but I've not yet seen verification or even a thing of him being there at the time. So that line doesn't belong.

... I want to say something in this part of the message that expresses both a desire to continue editing the page and a pithy defense of my prose, but that doesn't sound passive-aggressive and crappy. Nothing's coming.

I have a damn-near-Hulk-speak rough draft of the text open in Word right now. I'll show it off when it sounds like something not written for a joke. 'Til then, take care.

  • Include a source. A url to those comments. And if that's the case, work it into the characer bio rather than a trivia point.

  • In which issue is he identified as the Alfred of Earth 3?

      Loading editor
  • I rolled back the edit on earth 2 because you broke the template. didn't mean to erase any good edits, just try again, and make sure your brackets are all closed properly.

      Loading editor
    • I freely admit that I have a problem with brackets. The only thing I will seriously complain about is the page quote, which takes a while to type and which I really think is the best one.

        Loading editor
    • be warned that the conversation template doesn't exactly work as advertised...

        Loading editor
    • We've got a very loose.. crappy version of Marvel Wikia's conversation quote template. Until we can actually get it to work as it should we should use it sparingly and if it breaks the pages just remove it and find another quote.

Actually, it works better by manually adding it to the Quote page instead of on the issue page.

Further than that I'd like to mention, Kobold, that you've gotta keep on top of those brackets; you see them on every single other issue page we have and it becomes a bit of a problem to chase after you sweeping it up.

Mistakes are fine, just fix them when you see them so we won't have a mess. Thanks for hearing us out.
