  • Hey, thanks for helping out. I want to do one more tweak to the SeriesListing, but for the rest it seems to be working. If you have questions or points of improvement, let me know.

  • I'm running the bot to create (most of) those categories.

  • The Baphomet in Arak is the same as Belphegor. I believe the name situation was mentioned in either Arak 23 or a letter page shortly after that issue.

  • If you are going to relocate and Actor from a <Foo> characters category to a specific character, pleas check how they, the Actor, are sorted. The categories are sorted by the actors name. This is done by either adding either {{DEFAULTSORTT|<Actor's name>}} or the actors name after a pipe in the category in the markup, or using the edit category option, the pencil, to change the "<foo> characters" to the specific character.

How you edited Actors:John Barrowman, Actors:Malcolm McDowell, Actors:Steve Bacic, and Actors:Alan Rachins miss-sorted the articles in the categories. This is boubly troubling since they correctly had the piping before you edited them.

Also, if you are going to remove <noinclude> as you did with Actors:Walter Slezak, please also remove all </noinclude> that are also on the page.

    • What do you mean by "miss-sorted"? It changed the order they appeared in the category? I thought the order was arranged by how visited they are when compared to the rest.

    • Categories can be viewed two ways.

The first is "Exhibition", which is a form of gallery with 16 articles and 16 subcategories seen at a time. This is, I believe, the default formatting or can be selected with the square of 4 blocks icon. When in this mode, there is a pull down "Sorting type" where you can select either alphabetical or most visited orders. These orderings are based on the article title and the page views respectively.

The other way a category can be viewed is as a list. You can access this with the icon that looks like a short column of four line to the left of the "Exhibition View" icon. This format lists just the article and subcategory titles w/o image and, last I checked, shows 200 items at a time. DEFAULTSORT and piping affect this listing, overriding the article title. I doing this, it also index headers are added, showing which are articles are under "A", "B", "C", and so on.

With out the override, and Actors article is sorted under "Actors:..." in the list view, which is counterproductive.

    • I thought the List view was a mobile experience only. Didn’t know you could toggle that. Thanks for explaining

  • When adding the actor to the image subjects, please create the category for it. you can do this by clicking the "Image" link on the file page. If there is no header when you get to the image category, edit/create the page using the template {{Actor Images}}.

After you have uploaded an image, please make sure it does not have 2 image templates on it. This is happening with all of your uploads. The second, empty, template places the image in inappropriate categories.

Also, add all the relevant fields. You missed Univers on file:Ray Fisher Mug 0001.jpg.

  • For consistency's sake, mug images should be cropped in a square.

  • Please don't add characters on cover images. Only a textless cover image should have characters tagged on them.

  • When you create new character pages, can you also create the corresponding categories? All you have to do is click on the categories and add {{Character Appearances}}, {{Character Images}}, or {{Quotes}} to the correct category. If there are no quotes, you don't have to create that one.

    • That's a cache issue, as the page and templates itself aren't updated. Just make a null edit - saving without changes - and it'll be gone.

    • Oh I see what's happening. You added the categories to the character page itself instead of in the categories. You have to go into the categories and edit them there. You can find the links under the "Related" section on the character's page.
