  • Hi, I was just wondering why did you change the publication on Batman and Captain America #1 from December, 1996 to February, 1997?

    • I'm going according to the Grand Comics Database dating system. B&CA #1 was published in December '96, but it went on sale at the same time as comics cover-dated February '97. The wiki automatically categorizes publication date two months behind cover date, so the issue is still in "Category:1996, December (Publication)".

    • Right, well I was wondering because the Marvel characters of the same universe are dated and categorised as debuting in 1996 on the marvel wiki (if you have a look at the first appearance field on Steven Rogers (Earth-3839)) and I was wondering, could you confirm if your changes mean that all references that point toward December, 1996 in all Marvel character pages should to be changed to February, 1997?

    • Never mind, they were all moved to February, 1997 anyway, but thanks for talking.

  • Hi. Could you mention in the notes the specific issue of New Teen Titans Vol 1 about Paula von Gunta/Gunther's name? Without it, the information is without citation and can not be confirmed. Thank you.

  • Why did you relink all the images and appearances of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen characters? Now the issues have redlinks and the character pages are orphaned.

    • I have to plead ignorance. On every other wiki I've contributed to, users could rename/redirect pages themselves, so I didn't realize that redirects were restricted on this one. I thought it would be a simple enough project to do on my own. It's my fault for not reading the wiki rules ahead of time. I'm sorry.

    • We have moves restricted because it requires a lot of relinking, which is preferably done by a bot. We've had people move pages without discussion in the past, dislodging everything.

    • Can you check which ABC pages need moving and tag them with {{move}}

  • Hello!

Thank you for uploading new content to the DC Database project!

We have lots of images in our database, 134,116 in fact, and in order to keep them organized we use a system of naming, categories and licensing added to each.

    1. Please review our Naming Conventions for Images. Images are categorized by name, so a descriptive name rather than a string of numbers is important.
      1. As a guide, look what other images in a character's gallery are called, and continue with the same name and number. If you upload a first image of a character, use "[Name] [Universe] 001". Do not use parentheses, or the full pagename. Ignore the Universe designation if it is a New Earth character.
      2. Issue covers should be given at least the title of the series, the volume and the number. A name similar to the issue is preferred: "Title Vol 1 1". Textless covers should be called "Title Vol 1 1 Textless". Files that do not indicate the issue number will be deleted.
    2. Images should be no less than 300px wide, unless no bigger image is available.
    3. Add the Image Template to the images you upload. This is mandatory. Fill it in as detailed here, or below.
    4. Selecting the proper license is vital to properly maintaining our images. Please choose the license which best describes the image you are uploading. The most commonly used are 'Comic Single Panel' and 'Comic Cover', respectively.
    5. Other fields that should be filled in: Issue, Subject1, Artist. Add Source if you've taken it from a different site. If you've taken it from a different site and don't know the issue, DO NOT UPLOAD IT.

For a more in-depth guide, see Help:Image Template Hub. In addition, please take a moment to review our policies page and more specifically our image policy.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in reply to this post and our admins will explain how you can improve for next time.

    • Thank you for this. I'm still getting the hang of it. I'll try to make less work for others in the future.

  • When you upload an image, you don't need to select the dropdown menu and add the template after. It just adds the template to the image twice and messes things up. Also, take a look at the changes I made to the image you uploaded for Hugo Hornspred. It was close but I cleaned a few things up.
