  • Hello!

Thank you for uploading new content to the DC Database project!

We have lots of images in our database, 135,841 in fact, and in order to keep them organized we use a system of naming, categories and licensing added to each.

    1. Please review our Naming Conventions for Images. Images are categorized by name, so a descriptive name rather than a string of numbers is important.
      1. As a guide, look what other images in a character's gallery are called, and continue with the same name and number. If you upload a first image of a character, use "[Name] [Universe] 001". Do not use parentheses, or the full pagename. Ignore the Universe designation if it is a New Earth character.
      2. Issue covers should be given at least the title of the series, the volume and the number. A name similar to the issue is preferred: "Title Vol 1 1". Textless covers should be called "Title Vol 1 1 Textless". Files that do not indicate the issue number will be deleted.
    2. Images should be no less than 300px wide, unless no bigger image is available.
    3. Add the Image Template to the images you upload. This is mandatory. Fill it in as detailed here, or below.
    4. Selecting the proper license is vital to properly maintaining our images. Please choose the license which best describes the image you are uploading. The most commonly used are 'Comic Single Panel' and 'Comic Cover', respectively.
    5. Other fields that should be filled in: Issue, Subject1, Artist. Add Source if you've taken it from a different site. If you've taken it from a different site and don't know the issue, DO NOT UPLOAD IT.

For a more in-depth guide, see Help:Image Template Hub. In addition, please take a moment to review our policies page and more specifically our image policy.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in reply to this post and our admins will explain how you can improve for next time.

    • I'm sorry about that. I made the page first and then added the photo's information. I didn't mean for the confusion. If you could let me know if I still need to add anything to the picture's information, I would appreciate it. Thanks and sorry again for the mix-up. :)

    • Gas man.

        Loading editor
    • Already corrected it. You need to add the full page name, (New Earth) included, at Subject1=

        Loading editor
    • Oh, okay. Well, thanks for your help. I'll be sure add the picture information first next time.

  • Anytime we have a character called Mister Something, we always spell out the whole word when creating character pages instead of abbreviating it as Mr. It makes it easier to search the site to have them all spelled out instead of having some characters under Mister and others under Mr.

    • Oh. I'm sorry about that. I understand. It won't happen again. Thanks for letting me know.

  • Any time a character or item, location, etc. shows up in an issue, you want to tag them so it adds it to the appearance category. To do that format the links like this {{a|[[Timothy Drake (New Earth)|Robin]]}}. You only need to do this on comic pages or episode pages. Regular character pages don't need the {{a|}}. Also, you can leave off the extra tag when its a mentioned only character.

  • Could you please use the "(2004 TV Series)" when creating new episode articles? It avoids confusion with the 1966 series and is consistant with the majority of the episode articles.

      Loading editor
    • Yeah. No problem. Sorry about that. I just noticed that the rest were "Batman Episode" and I tried to be consistant. I understand the problem. I'll make sure to have "2004 TV Series" in there now. Thanks for the clarification.

    • The rest of the links for the series article shoul bump to to a "Create article" page with that formatting.

        Loading editor
    • Oh yeah. Thanks for the help.

  • A couple of things about images

    • If you already fill out an image template in the summary when you upload, there's no need to select a licensing template at the bottom. This just gives it a second template.
    • Some of the license names have been changed, and this (still) hasn't been updated in the text of the upload form. But the new, correct license and image type for a tv screenshot are:

    | License = TV Screenshot
    | ImageType = Character

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, just ask.

    • Oh, thanks for clearing that up. I understand perfectly. I'll make sure to do that now. Thanks again. :)

  • Relatives are not affiliations and the same goes vise versa. I'm not sure if Timmy and Melvin and those little brats are related or not but if they are make sure they're listed as such. It's been a while since I've seen the episode so I'm trusting you with it.

Otherwise, good work oh and as far as pets and toys they don't necessarily go under affiliations either.

    • Okay. Thanks for letting me know about the affiliations. This really helped. Also, I watched the episode maybe three weeks ago. I tried looking for any family relation between the children, but there was no real mention of it. I didn't want to assume they were siblings so I tried not to mention it in the articles. Thanks again for the clarification. I'll make sure not to mix them up again.

    • That's fine like I said you were doing a good job and they did leave that bit ambiguous so I'm glad you understood.

  • When you add a QuoteSource, you only need to add the page name - Teen Titans Episode: Forces of Nature. No links or pipelinks necessary. That way, it shows up as "src" on the page.

    • Thanks! I kept seeing that and wondered how to do it. That won't be a problem in the future. Thanks again.

  • Would you mind creating the last few episodes of the Teen Titans (TV Series) if you have access to them? You might already be planning on it but, either way, it would be nice to have all the episodes done. Thanks.

      Loading editor
    • No problem. I actually have one saved in a Word document that I started one day but never finished. I'll get them done.

        Loading editor
    • If you get a chance, there are still 7 episodes of this to go.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah. I'm really sorry I haven't made as big of a dent in them as I wanted to. I've been so freakin' busy lately that I haven't had the time to cement an episode page together. I'll be sure to get as many done today as I can.

        Loading editor
    • Its not a huge deal. I just wanted to remind you if you were still planning on doing them. If you weren't, oh well.

  • There's been a change in the usage of the image template. If you select "TV Screenshot", you have to change the "| Issue =" field to "| Episode =" otherwise the source won't show up.
