  • This is a style rule that we have here: Don't "correct" international English spellings (like "humour" and "favourite"). The spellings are interchangeable, and one is no less correct than the other.

As such, changing it constitutes what we call and "empty edit" where the article was not improved by the change - (and frankly suggests an inflated sense of superiority in our American users...)

Anyway, empty edits are frowned upon here, and that is a kind of empty edit. (Of course, changing it back would be an empty edit too, so, I'm not gonna do anything about it).

  • Can you review the comments Hatebunny made on your last Swampthing update? I noticed several of your updates are out of universe, such as Red_Robin_Vol_1_1. I used to make that same mistake as well :) The below wisdom was passed on to me by SforHope

The problem with your edit was that you described the story as a reader. Your first sentence was "In a black and white flashback, we see...". When writing a synopsis, you must do it from the perspective of a historian inside the DC universe. You must write as a reporter inside the comic would do it. The use of in this issue; in the previous comic; In this flashback or we see is incorrect.

The {{History Needed}} template points it out:

Articles should be written from an "in-universe" perspective as if they were written by a historian living in the DC Universe. Hope that helps

    • Alright. I see. I'll try to avoid doing that.

    • I hope it doesn't feel too much like I'm following you around.

As an administrator, I treat the Vertigo and pre-vertigo mature readers titles like my editorial purview, the same way a magazine editor might be in charge of sports or entertainment. So, I'm just keeping an eye on that area.

I think you're making good additions, catching stuff that was missed in past write-ups. The out-of-universe issue is a just stylistic issue that we treat as policy here.

When I have the free time, I'll be working with the other admins to produce some kind of manual of style so it's clearer what it is we're looking for.

    • Don't sweat it. You and Unatratnag are the professionals, so I'll follow your lead.
