  • Character bios don't need to contain every scene they're in (you know, that conciseness we keep telling you about).

Also, they go in the past tense.

    • Sorry about that, it's just that taking care of an article can be taxing. Help would be much appreciated.

  • Thanks for writing synopsis. I know it's a lot of work as that's all I do too. It seems like there's more than one character than Supes in these stories. Obviously you don't have to fill appearances out if you don't want to, but if it's incomplete can you add {{Missing Characters}} at the end? I use this a lot to determine where I can help in combination with summaries needed and wikify categories. I'd appreciate it!

  • The template is one thing, the naming is another. Read the policies again.

Also, uploading entire pages of panels borders on not being fair use.

  • I've noticed that you haven't been filling out the Image Template properly.

To help you figure out how to do that, I've written some Help pages on the subject.

    • ... Just another note to remind you that you are still not filling out the Image Template properly, and that if you read the above help articles, you may learn how to fill it out properly and avoid the inevitable block you will receive for ignoring readily available instructions and failing to fill the template out properly!

      Have a google translate day!

  • Please don't upload textless, solicit or dressed covers of any kind before the actual issue is out. From the very beginning even until recently we have problems with uploading solicit work ahead of time because last minute editorial decisions often move them around and either don't reflect them on their website or news source or do so well after you've uploaded your images.

So please, tl;dr do not upload covers before the issue is out.

  • Hello!

Thank you for uploading new content to the DC Database project!

We have lots of images in our database, 127,133 in fact, and in order to keep them organized we use a system of naming, categories and licensing added to each.

    1. Please review our Naming Conventions for Images. Images are categorized by name, so a descriptive name rather than a string of numbers is important.
      1. As a guide, look what other images in a character's gallery are called, and continue with the same name and number. If you upload a first image of a character, use "[Name] [Universe] 001". Do not use parentheses, or the full pagename. Ignore the Universe designation if it is a New Earth character.
      2. Issue covers should be given at least the title of the series, the volume and the number. A name similar to the issue is preferred: "Title Vol 1 1". Textless covers should be called "Title Vol 1 1 Textless". Files that do not indicate the issue number will be deleted.
    2. Images should be no less than 300px wide, unless no bigger image is available.
    3. Add the Image Template to the images you upload. This is mandatory. Fill it in as detailed here, or below.
    4. Selecting the proper license is vital to properly maintaining our images. Please choose the license which best describes the image you are uploading. The most commonly used are 'Comic Single Panel' and 'Comic Cover', respectively.
    5. Other fields that should be filled in: Issue, Subject1, Artist. Add Source if you've taken it from a different site. If you've taken it from a different site and don't know the issue, DO NOT UPLOAD IT.

For a more in-depth guide, see Help:Image Template Hub. In addition, please take a moment to review our policies page and more specifically our image policy.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in reply to this post and our admins will explain how you can improve for next time.

    DC Rebirth Logo

Regarding the Lois Lane image: if you don't know the issue where it's from, don't upload it. It's also not a Comic Scene, but a textless cover. It's from the trade paperback Lois Lane: A Celebration of 75 Years, which will be released November 27th. That took me less than a minute of research. But as it's an anthology title, we don't know which Lois it is: Earth-One, New Earth, or Prime Earth. We also don't know the artist. So it's pointless to upload now.

Please, hold off on uploading textless covers for as-of-yet unreleased comics. By the time it gets released, Hatebunny (or Midoki) will make a page for the comic, and upload the image. Because you already uploaded it under a different name, with no source information, only sheer luck will save it from being uploading again. And two versions of the same image is a waste.

We had the same problem when you uploaded zero issue textless covers; luckily, we caught that in time. For future reference: future comics are admin territory.

  • When you replace a textless cover with a dressed cover, you have to include the textless cover under | Image2 =. Also, don't forget to update the cover gallery.

  • You do a pretty nice job writing up issue synopses but I have one issue I'd like to bring up. We write all our pages in-universe but when you put "To be continued" at the end of the write-up, you make the whole thing DC Database:Out-of-universe. Also, being a comic, its understood that it continues. Other than that minor issue, you're synopses are fine.
