  • There's no need to describe powers unless you can give solid numbers. The only number you added - 1000 tons - did not have a source. Also... you're giving a basic description, not a work of prose. Your word choice is overenthusiastic, and you quite often use those words incorrectly.

You don't need to write a novel after every power. Just a source, and a rough indication of the measure of the power if available.

      Loading editor
    • And I'm really tired of having to repeat that you need to source things - powers, abilities, equipment functions, ect. - when you add them.

    • Part of the problem is that you are willfully ignoring what you have been told.

      As for the rest:

      1. This is your edit to Grail (Prime Earth) - [1] - You added "The Daughter of Darkseid" while "Darkseid's Daughter". That was redundant. My secondary comment was that I don't think either version should be there.
      2. Most of the guidelines are there so others do not have to follow behind you to fix things.
      3. Your last edits to Noah Kuttler (New Earth) and Mother Machine (Prime Earth) are most assuredly not how categories for powers, skills, "race", or article maintenance are added.
        1. Powers are added using Category:Powers Templates. These are added under "Powers ="
        2. Skills are added using Category:Skills Templates. These are added under "Abilities ="
        3. In both cases, a reference needs to be added. This reference is where you found, in a comic, the character described as having the skill or power, or is shown using it. If you do not know but think it is a valid assumption, add {{cn}} after it and {{Citation Needed|Power}} to the top of the page.
        4. If you think the history section needs work, and {{Expand}} under what is already there.
        Loading editor
    • I did all of that, I added the ref. for where I got the info from, I added the category type in {{}} for the specific power and or ability, I even double checked everything to confirm my findings when I read it from the source. But here you go with all these Categories all this maintenance, all the guideline debacle, Which I Have Been Following, and frankly its still not enough for anybody.

Y'know what? Forget it, this wiki isn't worth fiddling with anymore. how you or anybody who frequents this page ever really updates any of its content without backbiting anyone who does anything with it is beyond me.

And don't we want unedited scans? As in: Do not remove the text.

Or were these found on-line in this state?

    • Yeah, don't remove text either.

  • Hello!

Thank you for uploading new content to the DC Database project!

We have lots of images in our database, 134,671 in fact, and in order to keep them organized we use a system of naming, categories and licensing added to each.

    1. Please review our Naming Conventions for Images. Images are categorized by name, so a descriptive name rather than a string of numbers is important.
      1. As a guide, look what other images in a character's gallery are called, and continue with the same name and number. If you upload a first image of a character, use "[Name] [Universe] 001". Do not use parentheses, or the full pagename. Ignore the Universe designation if it is a New Earth character.
      2. Issue covers should be given at least the title of the series, the volume and the number. A name similar to the issue is preferred: "Title Vol 1 1". Textless covers should be called "Title Vol 1 1 Textless". Files that do not indicate the issue number will be deleted.
    2. Images should be no less than 300px wide, unless no bigger image is available.
    3. Add the Image Template to the images you upload. This is mandatory. Fill it in as detailed here, or below.
    4. Selecting the proper license is vital to properly maintaining our images. Please choose the license which best describes the image you are uploading. The most commonly used are 'Comic Single Panel' and 'Comic Cover', respectively.
    5. Other fields that should be filled in: Issue, Subject1, Artist. Add Source if you've taken it from a different site. If you've taken it from a different site and don't know the issue, DO NOT UPLOAD IT.

For a more in-depth guide, see Help:Image Template Hub. In addition, please take a moment to review our policies page and more specifically our image policy.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in reply to this post and our admins will explain how you can improve for next time.

    • Sourcing - When adding powers or the like, sourcing is required. You are being less than consistent in this.
    • Adding {{Formerly}} - A source explanation, especially with currently published characters, is needed.
    • Categories - Look before you edit and use the Preview function before you hit the publish button. Most of the categories you are adding manually are added automatically by templates either already on the page or thatyou are adding.
    • English - You are still mangling it.
    • Tense - History sections are written in the past tense.

    • I have been, Often. I look up the comics and all they're details to a tee, even re-reading them over just to double check my work, while I'm working on it. I'm doing everything you're accusing me of not doing and it's still never good enough, not getting what the problem is.

I add sources and explanations I look out for all the categories ones I didn't see before editing. Sorry if my English is bad but it's a work in progress, history I put in the right place both in my mind and on the form I print. Honestly with all the faults you people list when things are being edited, its any wonder why anybody bothers posting anything at all.

        Loading editor
    • And when you're not mangling English, you're making it needlessly woolly. We're not writing an arcane annal. We want a text that can be understood by all. God Killer (Sword) reads like someone trying to write high fantasy.

        Loading editor
    • well excuse me for going into extra detail, i don't see any of you making any of this stuff, you add the material but nobody bothers to do anything with it most the time.

    • you failed to mention that was a no no, your guideline failed to mention that was not allowed. Frankly that's not the point. my point is all I've seen you admin people do is pick, pick, pick at everything that happens here, always asking for sources constantly arguing over what happened and were it happened not bothering to clarify on what's the what when adding or editing anything; it's monotonous, and honestly a waste of time. Reminds me that there are better things to be doing instead of arguing over stuff that is soo mundane.

    • We cannot advertise pirate content - that should be a no-brainer. It's copyright violation.

If we're monotonous, it's because you keep doing it wrong. There's no other way about it.

  • Powers need to be added with Powers Templates. That way, they're properly categorized. If there isn't an exact match, look for something that is sort of similar and pipelink it for the desired name.

Also, "it's" is short for "it is". The third person neuter possessive is "its".

    • Well dude, it's really not his job to clean up after you. And he's an admin, so he really doesn't have to consult anyone before undoing your edit.

    • It is my job, and I do it a lot. In Bedlam's case, I actually cleaned it up by consulting Who's Who. The factuality isn't the problem, it's the English.
