  • Just noticed your synopsis for Dectective Comics. You've made the same assumption I did, that a synopsis would be like he blurb on the back of a novel, but a comic synopsis should be a detailed panel-by-panel description of the story for those who have read the issue but need to recap if they no longer have it or can't be bothered wading through their collection to find it.

I completed a whole run of brief blurbs before I came across Hatebunny's Style Guide. Thought I'd let you know sooner than later.

    • Thank you for the notice, but I think the synopses I wrote for "Dead Reckoning" are meaty enough, and that Style Guide actually seems to caution against panel-by-panel descriptions, lest a synopsis drown under its own length.

The synopses for "Spore" are a different matter - I don't know if you've read that story, but it's very much structured like a children's book. Threadbare plot, literally no dialogue. There's really not much more than what I typed up in the synopses.

    • It was just the one synopsis for DC #778 that it randomly noticed. The guide cautions against unnecessary detail, such as describing fight scenes or dialogue. There's a little more here.

Anyway, what is relevant comes down to the writer, so it's up to you, but you still didn't wikify the synopsis.

  • Hello!

Thank you for uploading new content to the DC Database project!

We have lots of images in our database, 139,240 in fact, and in order to keep them organized we use a system of naming, categories and licensing added to each.

    1. Please review our Naming Conventions for Images. Images are categorized by name, so a descriptive name rather than a string of numbers is important.
      1. As a guide, look what other images in a character's gallery are called, and continue with the same name and number. If you upload a first image of a character, use "[Name] [Universe] 001". Do not use parentheses, or the full pagename. Ignore the Universe designation if it is a New Earth character.
      2. Issue covers should be given at least the title of the series, the volume and the number. A name similar to the issue is preferred: "Title Vol 1 1". Textless covers should be called "Title Vol 1 1 Textless". Files that do not indicate the issue number will be deleted.
    2. Images should be no less than 300px wide, unless no bigger image is available.
    3. Add the Image Template to the images you upload. This is mandatory. Fill it in as detailed here, or below.
    4. Selecting the proper license is vital to properly maintaining our images. Please choose the license which best describes the image you are uploading. The most commonly used are 'Comic Single Panel' and 'Comic Cover', respectively.
    5. Other fields that should be filled in: Issue, Subject1, Artist. Add Source if you've taken it from a different site. If you've taken it from a different site and don't know the issue, DO NOT UPLOAD IT.

For a more in-depth guide, see Help:Image Template Hub. In addition, please take a moment to review our policies page and more specifically our image policy.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in reply to this post and our admins will explain how you can improve for next time.

  • Can you make sure to include links in the synopses?

      Loading editor
    • Also, appearances that are links require an A template around them, like so: {{a|[[Gotham City]]}}

  • The History sections are supposed to be written as to an in-universe biographer was writing them. Reducing them to bullet lists does not do this. And in either cases, a reference should be made to the story the information is drawn from.

Additionally, adding a Note or point of Trivia that starts "It is unknown if..." is just adding speculation. It should not be added. I believe one of the Admins pointed this out to you last year.

  • Hi. I keep removing that section because it's essentially speculation. So please don't add it back.

Also, the first section doesn't need a header.

  • You have now edited the same page something like 122 times in the last 11 days. I don't know what you're doing but enough is enough on it.

Is there a problem? Should I go on to edit some other page before returning to this one?

    • If you're going to make edits on a page, do them all at once. There's no reason to change one little word, and then publish the edit only to come back a few minutes, or hours later and change another little word.

Making multiple edits on the same page muddies up the page's edit history, which we use to keep track of changes to the page, for administrative purposes.

  • I noticed you've made like the last 100 consecutive edits to the Joker page from the Batman series. Its not normally a problem to make multiple edits if you made a mistake or forgot something. In this case, surely there is a way to add the information in less than 100 edits.
