Michael Ansara (b. April 15, 1922 – d.July 31, 2013) was a Lebanese-American character actor best known for voicing Mister Freeze in the DC Animated Universe, from Batman: The Animated Series to Batman: Vengeance.
Professional History
Michael Ansara was a prolific character actor throughout the twentieth century, often being cast as Native American characters due to his complexion. Among his most recognizable roles are Chief Cochise on Broken Arrow and Commander Kang on Star Trek, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Voyager.
In 1992, Ansara took up the role of Mister Freeze on Batman: The Animated Series, radically reinventing the character for modern times and creating a version many consider to be the best adaptation. He reprised the role of Freeze in The New Batman Adventures, Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, and Batman Beyond, forming a complete story for the character, and voiced the character one final time in Batman: Vengeance before his passing in 2013.
