Michael Barnes was the second hero known as The Shield.

History

Lt. Michael Steven Barnes was a member of General Marion Higgins' Gun Club. After repeated attempts by General Higgins to recapture the armor of the Shield from Lt. Joseph Michael Higgins, Joe Higgins finally surrendered the armor. Barnes replaced him as the star-spangled crime fighter known as the Shield. Lt. Barnes was the third person in the Impact Universe to wear the armor of the Shield. He was briefly a member of the modern Crusaders. He died in a helicopter crash during a mission in the Ukraine.
