Mikaal Tomas, better known as Starman, is a warrior of the alien race of the Tradlavians[1] and the protector of Opal City.
History
Danger Street
Early in their superhero careers Starman, Metamorpho and Warlord planned to enter the Justice League of America by summoning Darkseid and defeating him to prove the League their worth. After Metamorpho acquired the Helmet of Fate to summon Darkseid he joined his comrades at a local diner and together they drove to a nearby desert to enact their plan. They started the summoning but were surprised when instead of Darkseid appeared a frantic Atlas who immediately attacked and killed Metamorpho, Mikaal tried to calm down the brute but was quickly overpowered, luckily for him Warlord then killed Atlas by stabbing him in the back with his sword. Despite surviving Mikaal was crippled by a panic attack that made him instinctivetly shoot a blast of energy at Good Looks, a local child who had come to check on the battle. Distraught by the event he and Warlord run away from the scene.[2]
The Shade
Though he took some time off from being a superhero to enjoy life with his boyfriend Tony, Tony died unexpectedly, thrusting Tomas back into the mantle of being Starman. He is friends with the former criminal The Shade.[3]

- Energy Projection: Starman can project from his hands energy blasts strong enough to kill a human with a single blast.[2]

- Superhuman Strength: Starman can use the energies of his Sonic Crystal to enhance his strength to incalculable levels. He has been able to shake the earth with the power of his blows and draw blood and eventually overpower and defeat even Orion of the New Gods and destroy his Astro-Harness by pushing himself to his limits.[4]
- Superhuman Durability: Starman can survive levels of damage that could annihilate any humanoid with only limited damage. He has survived numerous blasts from Orion's Astro-Harness and kept fighting until he won, although he collapsed from exhaustion after the battle.[4]
Notes
- Mikaal Tomas was created by Gerry Conway and Mike Vosburg, first appearing in 1st Issue Special #12. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Mikaal Tomas first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in The Shade (Volume 2) #1 by James Robinson and Cully Hamner.
