Synopsis for "The Time of the Preacher"
This story is reprinted from Preacher #1.
At the Five Aces Diner in Annville, Texas, Jesse Custer, Tulip O'Hare, and Proinsias Cassidy were debating on how they could find God. In a flashback, Jesse went to a bar, where he provoked the patrons by exposing confidential information about each of them. Meanwhile, in Heaven, a seraphi approached three men and instructed them to retrieve Genesis. Back on Earth, Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy continued to share stories with each other, recalling how Jesse received powers from a mysterious entity called Genesis, which was created when an angel and a demon conceived it. In the flashback, the local police investigated the destruction caused by Genesis, when Jesse used the entity's powers to order them to drop their weapons, before he rode off. Then, the Saint of Killers approached the police.
