Mint Candy was the brother of Etta Candy of the Holliday Girls. During the early years of World War II, he was a military intelligence courier.

History

After being injured in a motorcycle accident while delivering intelligence Mint was able to visit his family home in Texas while recovering. Etta took the opportunity to see her brother and took a vacation to the Bar-L Ranch herself. While there the siblings found and rescued a Mexican woman named Pepita Valdez who had been thrown down a mine shaft. Pepita and Mint hit it off and started a romance, but Axis agents kidnapped Pepita's father and blackmailed her to try and get information from Mint, threatening to kill her father if she didn't. Etta attacked Pepita thinking she had hurt Mint when Pepita tried to explain herself, leading the young lady to try her best to do the blackmailer's bidding as her opportunity to find a way around it was used up in a misunderstanding. With Wonder Woman's help Pepita was tracked down, the situation explained, the Axis agents captured and Mr. Valdez rescued. Despite Pepita very nearly using him to aid the enemy Mint found he was still in love with her and the two agreed to wait out the war for each other and get hitched.

During the war he befriended Pierre Marchand of the Free French Forces, who went on to date Mint's sister Etta.

• Vulnerability to boredom: Mint is easily bored on long trips, causing him to do things which impede his ability to remain aware of his surroundings in order to break up the monotony.

Notes

• This version of Mint Candy, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
