Miriam Downs was the spouse to the adulterous, if not abusive, Lester. Wax acted as Miriam's personal chauffeur but psychically induced her into a sexual affair to spite his hated supervisor.
History
A stereotypically obnoxious, abrasive, bratty white collar citizen. Miriam was a verbally abusive harpy whom constantly ran off at the mouth to anyone of lower social standard than her. Her grating personality inevitably wore on the cabbie service driver her unfaithful husband had assigned to her; Agent Wax, and deciding on having had enough of the braying sows antics. Hypnotized her into giving him fellatio using his powers. His way of putting her kisser to better use than she ever did.[1]
Afterwards, he would drive his boss's repulsive spouse to a local shopping mart so as to ruminate on brand scamming while the hazed Miriam embarrassed herself by stuffing her face with an unpaid for bag of chips. When she starts coming out of the haze, Wax compels her again which causes her to lose cognitive balance temporarily. Forcing her chauffeur to catch Miriam as she stumbles & falls.
Still under the thrall of her fling, Wax takes her to a cheap motel in the more rural area of town. After having a harrowing discussion with his supervisor about how their marriage is like the reenactment of the cold war, Wax mentions about how and why it is Miriam is so susceptible to the mesermization because of it. Then ordering her to forget everything they did together before sending her off to catch a cab and remind her husband about misinformation Wax suggestively implanted in her subconscious to throw off any suspicions later on at home.[2]
At another gala being held in Washington, D.C. Miriam was continually molested by Wax using his powers while her husband brown nosed to the rich elite in order to keep NPS active and well funded. When the director of the service inquired as to where his wife was. Miriam appeared out of nowhere to rejoin the festivities.[3] After another night of carnal escapades, Mrs. Downs finds herself more lucid than she has been in later days after having Wax use her to vent his frustrations. She threatens to see him crucified for doing what she'd had done onto her, but her driver calmly rebuffs such threats given how she's conversed with him openly without the influence of mental sublimation before. Wax going so far as to recall her stating married life was unhappy and dissatisfying no matter how much scratch she made off of it before hypnotizing her to forget again.[4]
Back in their lavish estate, Lester dismisses their cook and confronts his unfaithful lawfully wedded wife about her infidelity. When Miriam comments on her husbands manic familia talking her ear off over the phone; he brutally slaps her into the kitchen counter before yelling at the bemoaned spouse. The matron of the house scoffs it off, saying he doesn't hit nearly as hard as he used too.
But he simply storms off while subtly hinting the best was still to come, leaving the dissatisfied harpy wondering what that was all about. After further abuse and beration, Mr. Downs has Miriam bound and gaged with duct tape before placating her in a murderous revenge scheme against Wax.[5] When the caterer whom had been secretly coaxing her into physical intercourse's with him removed her mouth latching. She immediately shot off insults at him, demanding to know who he was and why he wasn't untying her at the moment.
But Wax simply silences her with his posthuman abilities. Something that doesn't go unnoticed by Agent Downs as he saunters in holding his duplicitous yes-man at gunpoint. He slaps Miriam back into reality, whom immediately questions what he had just done to her. Before she's ordered to be silent again by her enraged husband whom questions his subordinate about how long he'd been fornificating with his wife.
Mrs. Downs is at a complete loss, not knowing whether her husband was either lying or had lost his mind completely. But her husband dismisses her bewilderment seeing how the lulling effect Wax's abilities first hand had little to do with anything, seeing how often the affair occurred with or without knowledges of events taking place. Miriam is enraged by these accusations and has an outburst denying anything of the sort. This only incites Downs to shoot her then & there instead, fortunately he misses by a smidge. Wax commenting that his superior was always a terrible shot as he was a sect manager.[6]
After the incident Miriam is taken to the hospital to be mended and treated for her head injury before leaving, she is mesmerized into believing Wax is her husband Lester through his gifts. Essentially lulling her and others around her into seeing Wax as his own C.O.[7]
Continuing the charade for as long as he can, Miriam still feels that Wax is her husband and now stands in a happier marriage than ever. Only finding slight contention with how work has been consuming their relationship again due to the uptick of interconintental activity on the Halo Corporation overtaking the global economy by storm.[8]
