Quote1 I am the baleful strider in the night. I am the Dullahan, the Bogeyman, the Khokhan, and the Buse. I am Mörkö, the Dunganga, the Abo Ragl Ma Slokha, the Burned Man, and the Lake Man. I am Buback, and the Torbalan. I am ever and always all of these things and so many more. I am nothing less than every dark thing in the dread of the night. Quote2
Mister Dark src

Mister Dark, also known as the Dark Man, was the personification of the Bogeyman and one of the Great Powers that existed long before the rise of the Empire within the Homelands in the Fables universe.

Eventually, a group of warlocks known as the Boxing League was formed to defeat Mister Dark. They deceived him within a stone box which called him, offering its thick stone ramparts, towers and bastions. A mighty fortress, within which he could rest and recover his strength, and when he entered seeking only a quick respite, he perceived that this was no grand castle. It was just a box, a tiny and simple stone box. So many ages he was trapped inside, powering their magics from within his tiny box. But they made an error.

They took up his bag and made a magical cloak of it, all the better to counter his powers. But his bag was part of him, and so he was never fully trapped. With subtle moves, he nudged and suggested and whispered and manipulated little by little. Eventually he caused his cloak to fall into the hands of those who were the enemies of his enemy. Aided by his cloak, they brought down the empire that vexed him so, and brought about his eventual release. So he became fully restored into the countless worlds again.[1]
