In the 1940s, Mister Death was an enemy of Tom Hallaway, Alias the Spider.
History
In 1943 in New York City, a con man calling himself "Mr. Death" suckered seven wealthy businessmen into joining a "Suicide Club," in which three of them ended up killing themselves. The club was built around a card game, at which Mr. Death was cheating. A deadly New York vigilante, Tom Hallaway, alias the Spider learned of this, and pursued Mr. Death into the countryside. Mr. Death was mad with terror when he finally killed himself, with a bullet to the head.
