Synopsis for "The Source of Freedom: Part One"

Mister Miracle/Shilo Norman plummets from the edge of the atmosphere in a stunt and his parachute fails to eject, leaving him to slam into his production crew on live television. When the dust settles, he is seated calmly in a chair, drinking soda. The ratings are sensational and he discusses how to improve action figure sales with his agent but he refuses to reveal his secret identity. He storms out of the meeting and heads to Metropolis.

Two days later, Miracle intercepts a man attempting to blow up a building for the insurance money and as he nabs the fraudster, his Mother Box malfunctions, almost resulting in the duo dying in the explosion. The Metropolis Fire Department arrives and Miracle meets Denise Dorian, causing him to immediately reconsider his personal life. Vito arrives at the fire station with a non-disclosure agreement so that Shilo can ask Denise out on a date.

During a morning talk show appearance, a social media feed is flooded with demands that Miracle unmask himself and allegations that he is a thief and impostor. Shilo and Vito discuss revealing his alter ego, but Shilo explains that the Mister Miracle persona allows him to hide from the racism he otherwise faces as a black man.

He goes on his first date with Denise, which ends up in a sour argument and he gets a call from Vito that the bank is foreclosing on his condo and all his finances are frozen, as they are evidently from laundered accounts. He races back to his home to find it vandalized with graffiti all over claiming that he's a fraud. Moments later, he is struck in the back by a blast of energy from N'vir Free, who claims the mantle of the true Mister Miracle.
