Mister Miracle (Volume 2) #5 is an issue of the series Mister Miracle (Volume 2) with a cover date of June, 1989.

Synopsis for "Out of the Dark!"

While Beautiful Dreamer gives birth, Big Barda and Highfather leave to rescue Scott and the rest of the Forever People from The Dark.

Oberon wakes up on the street, still groggy after the fight with the Shadow Agents. Ted Brown drives by in his car, picks Oberon up, and takes him away.

Highfather and Barda arrive at Fyre's hideout, but Highfather enters alone. Inside, Fyre gets ahold of the "old man" and kicks him repeatedly while Scott watches. The view reminds Scott of how they tortured him at Granny Goodness's orphanage, so he uses all his forces to break free from the trap and help his father. He frees the kidnapped members of the Forever People, and together they defeat Fyre's forces, although she managed to escape. Highfather takes the Shadow Agents back to their homes, without memories of being possessed by The Dark.

Suddenly they remember Beautiful Dreamer, and they rush back home, where they meet Maya, Dreamer's baby.

In the morning, Scott and Highfather make amends and try to reconcile. Later, Highfather and the Forever People leave Earth, letting Scott and Barda have privacy again. Suddenly, they wonder where Oberon is.

Notes

  • The presence of Forever People in this issue was retconned later on New Gods (Volume 4) #14. In that issue, the Forever People escape from Adon and return to Earth, making every one of their appearances between Forever People #11 (1972) and New Gods (Volume 4) #14 (1997) no longer canon. Moreover, Maya's existence was erased from continuity.
