Synopsis for "...Nor Iron Bars a Jail."

As Mister Miracle flees from his former friends in Justice League America who are possessed by The Source, Granny Goodness, Kalibak, and Steppenwolf watch from Apokolips. He manages to free them from their possession with Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth and attempts to get back to New Genesis by powering his Mother Box with pure love for his wife Big Barda.

When the living computer comes back online, she informs him that Barda has been taken to the underworld of Hadis by the Black Racer and Miracle is determined to get her back. After confronting the Racer on the surface of New Genesis, a hole appears in the ground, allowing him access to the after realm, where the Racer assures him that he will fail. He evades Enkar and is tormented by a vision of his mother Avia. He finds Barda enthralled in perpetual battle—she refuses to leave and is happy that the Black Racer has brought her there.

The Racer psychically torments Miracle and transports him back to the Celestial City in New Genesis, where he now wishes to go through with the ascension rite in order to become a New God and have the power to retrieve Barda. Lightray says it's impossible after he gave up his destiny,[1] but as the two bicker, a hand comes from the Source Wall and drags Miracle into it.
