Mn'Torr was a mystic alien who possessed the living essence of immortality.
History
He rescued Gavyn, a spoiled prince from Throneworld, who was thrown out of a spaceship airlock to his death. While Gavyn was floating in the void of outer space, Mn'Torr retrieved him and became his friend and trusted adviser.
Together they learned that Gavyn already possessed the power of the stars. Mn'Torr bestowed upon him a set of jeweled wristbands and a staff, which allowed him to channel his cosmic powers into the ability to fly and shoot bolts of energy. Gavyn kept his true identity a secret and served as a masked protector of the realm as Starman.
Though Mn'Torr was later killed by the Elder Race,[1] he was able to continue to counsel Gavyn as a spirit.

- Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
