Synopsis for Blackhawk: "The Pirates of Peroo"

At last World War II has ended, and most or all of the renegade Axis soldiers and fugitive Axis leaders have been rounded up. On Blackhawk Island, the team sadly prepares to disband, but an emergency radio call summons them to Peroo Island, where crew of pirates has enslaved the local population and is forcing them to mine tin. The Blackhawk Squadron visits this island and busts this crew, then formally votes to remain together and fight similar crimes all over the world.

  • Blackhawk #10 (Spring 1946) went on sale on 17 October 1945, and presents three post-WWII Blackhawk stories, while Modern Comics #48 (April 1946) went on sale on 8 February 1946, and presents the first explicitly post-WWII Blackhawk story.
    • Per panel 6 of page 2, the homeland to which Olaf ends up not returning is Norway. Olaf retroactively became Swedish later.
  • Death Patrol:
    • This is founding member Del Van Dyne's last appearance in this series. Most of the others will continue on until the last chapter, in Modern Comics #52.
    • Only Del, Hank, Hotintot, Jackie/Junior, and Yogi are visible in the story.
