I am your son! I've gotta be!
Monkey Prince #11 is an issue of the series Monkey Prince (Volume 1) with a cover date of April, 2023. It was published on February 7, 2023.
Synopsis for "The Monkey King and I, Part 3 of 4"
Winston and Gerard install the restored Phantom Crystal lens into the Phantom Zone Projector and open a portal into the Phantom Zone. They see a silhouette of the Monkey King on the other side, but the portal suddenly collapses. Winston tells Gerard that, as half of the Projector is made of Earth materials, it is not a perfect recreation of the original Kryptonian technology and the Projector will not work. Gerard says they will retrieve the original other half of the Projector from the Hall of Justice.
Marcus, who had earlier left the Hall to allow Black Alice some time alone, returns to find it in ruins. He finds Winston and the Ultra-Humanite reassembling the Phantom Zone Projector in a store room and confronts them. He sends a swarm of miniature clones to attempt to restrain without hurting them, but Winston is tripped up and falls, cracking his head on the Projector. Winston is knocked unconscious and activates the Projector when he hits it, opening the portal. Marcus sees the silhouette of the Monkey King reaching for Winston and dives in to stop him. When Gerard sees this, he realises that the Monkey Prince is Marcus.
In the Phantom Zone, the Monkey King attacks Marcus and demands to know who he is. Marcus tells the Monkey King that he is his son, but Sun Wukong refuses to believe him. Marcus creates a wave of clones to demonstrate who he is, but Sun Wukong responds with his own set of clones, which unlike Marcus's are full-sized and fully identical to him. Monkey King manages to hit Marcus is the face, knocking off his mask and causing him to revert to human form.
Monkey King asks Marcus where he comes from and Marcus replies that he was adopted as a baby and his parents told him they don't know anything about his birth family. Sun Wukong creates a clone of Marcus which possesses all his memories, even the ones Marcus has forgotten. The clone reveals that, fifteen years ago, the Ultra-Humanite and his adopted parents opened a portal into the Phantom Zone and the Monkey King hurled boulders at them from inside the Zone. The Justice League arrived on the scene and destroyed the Projector. While the League were distracted fighting the Humanite, Winston and Laura found Marcus inside one of the boulders and escaped.
Marcus says the clone's story proves he really is the Monkey King's son, but Sun Wukong still refuses to believe him. Marcus tells the Monkey King about the crisis on Earth 0 and tells him that they need his help but Sun Wukong says he cannot leave as he will die if he leaves the Zone. He tells Marcus that if he really is his son then he will be able to defeat Nezhal and also that he must find his master Tripitaka. Marcus agrees but asks Wukong to first teach him how to create perfect clones.
Marcus returns through the portal, but when he emerges Gerard throws a dart at him which injects nanobots into his bloodstream. He tells Marcus that he knows who he is and that the nanobots he has been injected with have bound to his pain receptors and will torture him if he disobeys Gerard.
