Synopsis for Green Arrow: "The Birth of the Battling Bowmen"
After defeating the Gold Gang, Speedy and Green Arrow remember how they got there: The boy Roy Harper was on a plane with his parents and their employee Quoag, when the plane crashed and fell on the rocky plate known as the Lost Mesa. The pilot and Roy's parents died in the fall and he was trapped there with the indigenous Quoag, who built a shelter and taught Roy how to use a bow and arrow to hunt. Roy ends up getting used to the situation and becomes an accomplished archer. One day, they see a plane flying over the Mesa.
At this moment, Oliver Queen begins to tell her story: Oliver tells that he had a vast collection of indigenous artifacts and that he mastered the native archery technique. A month ago (from Roy's sighting of the plane) Oliver was at the museum at night when he was surprised by bandits who wanted to steal the collection. Oliver, sweating medieval weapons, defeated the bandits but they caused a fire that destroyed the collection. Very shaken by the destruction of his work, Oliver heard from the museum curator that he could continue his research at the Lost Mesa, which there would be a "gold mine" for him. However, bandits overheard the conversation and arrived before Oliver to steal the "gold".
As soon as the bandits arrived at Lost Mesa, they were greeted by Roy but soon took him prisoner. With Quoang's help, Roy escapes and is faced with Oliver Queen arriving for his research. Roy thinks Oliver is with the bad guys and the two fight quickly, before being caught by the bad guys. Oliver laughs at the thug who thought he had a real gold mine there. With Quoag's help they escape Roy teaches Oliver how to hide, including running grass to leave Oliver's clothes green. Quoag takes them to a cave where he has a hidden bow and arrow. Miss Quog is shot and dies. Oliver and Roy promise revenge and, going through a tunnel, find a room with golden artifacts from the indigenous people. Soon the bandits arrive and Roy snubs Oliver but he proves to be an excellent archer. Roy's speed makes the bandits call him Speedy and Oliver, due to his outfit, is called the Green Arrow. The two adopt the nicknames and Oliver makes, for the first time, an arrow with a rope for them to escape and, at the same time, knock down a column and kill the bandits. The two decide to fight crime with the weapons they dominate and sweat the gold discovered as a source of financing.
