Mother was one of Mongul's champions. She was a sorceress who could match the Enchantress in power.
History
When Mongul was still a young raider, he and his band of Warzoons invaded a small world, only to find the entire population dead. They had used an ancient spell to awaken Mother, an undead witch queen and monster of their world's distant past, at the cost of their own lives to destroy the invaders. Mother killed all the Warzoons but Mongul was able to bargain with her, promising her whatever she wished if she helped him overthrow his father and take the throne.[1]
Mother fought Enchantress in the battle with The Authority, and took her back to her lair to devour her soul.[2] Superman and his allies eventually came to free June, bringing Orphan, another one of Mongul's champions who had defected to Superman's side, with them. Orphan used his powers to teleport Mother away from them into Mongul's throne room. Mother attacked Mongul in a rage, believing he had broken his promise by allowing the rebels to take June from her. Mongul killed her, saying she was no longer useful, and fused her corpse with Lightray's to create a new Unmade warrior.[3]
