Myrwhydden was a magical enemy of Green Lantern.
History
Myrwhydden was an evil sorcerer who ruled a planet until he was defeated by Abin Sur, who shrank the magician and placed him on a barren microworld within his power ring, where Myrwhydden's powers would not work. After Abin Sur's death, Myrwhydden's powers returned, and he created a magical duplicate of Abin Sur to destroy his foe. Abin Sur's succesor, Hal Jordan, defeated the duplicate and then went to the microworld and defeated Myrwhydden as well.[1]
When Green Lantern received a new power ring,[2] Myrwhydden's world was transferred into it. Eventually, Myrwhydden escaped the ring and regained his full size, but was again defeated by Green Lantern, who turned him over to the Guardians of the Universe for punishment.[3] The Guardians sentenced him with an unshakable fatigue, in body and mind, unable to use his magic. Eventually, he regained a little bit of his strength by the continuous waves of power coming from outside Hal's ring. Using the little power he had, he tapped into the computer of Hal's ship and forced him to deplete his ring to its limit, almost killing him in the void of space. When Hal recharged, the sudden surge of power returned Myrwhydden's magic. He then trapped the Green Lantern inside the ring and tried to steal his willpower to escape. Hal threatened to kill himself, eventually drawing the attention of the Guardians. But Myrwhydden didn't count with their intervention, so he let Green Lantern go.[4]
The Guardians decided to take Myrwhydden out of Hal's ring and imprison him in the Sciencells of Oa. He worked alongside Sinestro to escape, both of them siphoning the Green Lanterns' power from different locations. However, the Green Lantern Corps of Earth managed to defeat both of them and take them for judgment back on Oa.[5] Again, Myrwhydden saw another chance to escape after Sinestro's execution triggered a cataclysmic event that destroyed the Central Power Battery, freeing every inmate on Oa. In the end, Hal Jordan was able to stop the villains by creating a new prison. Myrwhydden was locked in a soundless cell.[6]
